He shall direct my paths
Growing up I was involved in various activities such as gymnastics, basketball, swimming, volleyball & a honor A student. When I was 33 years old, I got into a bad relationship which led me to trying drugs for the first time. From one drug to another it eventually led to my drug of choice, methamphetamine. As my addiction progressed, I ended up overdosing three times & it seemed as if I was in and out of jail all year, for multiple years. Then, there were times I got my record expunged & began doing well for myself for about 5 years just to return to my previous addiction with drugs. While incarcerated, I heard about the Jail Ministry through Chaplain Gina Thomas who would come into the Jails to mentor the ladies. Probation then spoke to me about a sober living home for when I get released which is where I reside today. I am grateful for the Lord every day, for my housing being a positive and safe environment for me & the opportunity to volunteer with the senior citizens through Living Well Café 3 times a week. I am also in one-on-one counseling, going to Church, and developing a healthy routine. Lastly, I have an accountability partner & I am involved in a support group.
Two quotes that helped me through incarceration is:
Scripture Proverbs 3:5-6:
5: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
6: “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
